“Lech Lecha” Go Forth (Go to you/the Person!!) Jewish wisdom
According to Jewish metaphysical thinking, the first crucial step in life is to go within — to our inner self — to discover who our Maker, God, has called us to be and what He has called us to do. To discover the purpose for creating us in the first place.
For, “there is a spirit in man, and the breath (Or Spirit) of the Almighty gives him understanding.” Torah
The Torah calls this ‘spirit in man’, the heart of man (the core – or the eternal rational soul – in both the Hebrew and Greek scripts). The Gospel uses ‘inner man’, ‘inward man’ and ‘hidden man’ for this same being; the person. For, “as in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man.” Torah
We train our minds through formal education and our bodies through exercise but sadly, we neglect the person! Yet, we must be at one with our truest self, the Person within, before our outward journey can begin with confidence and courage.
To know who you are and what you are called to be, is to have clarity of vision and focus. It also means that you can start out in life with meaning, because you know whose you are, who is on your side in this war called life. Victory is certain and the end result would be what the Torah calls ‘good success’. Success in tandem with your purpose. That is fulfillment.
The first rule of personal transformation therefore is, “first within, then without’. Sam Adeyemi. So, who are ‘You’ really? We talk here not about your material circumstances, your pedigree or even your gender. Rather, who does God, your Maker, call you? “I have said, You are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High.” Psalm (Zabur) of David
The Spirit of God spoke that through King David. But what does it mean?
It means that man, the person, is a god (Or energy, to science and eastern religions), in the very class of God Almighty!
This person, created ‘in the image of God’, is a spirit, for “God is a Spirit”. He wields the God-given power of choice, which is inalienable (it can neither be taken from nor given away).
That power is the human will. It is also the innate power to recreate his world.
Your spirit man is who you are; the god , ‘in the image of God”. Words give expression to this god within, ‘after (the) likeness of God’, the Kumfayakum God who says, Be and it becomes!
1. Words communicate his will; his thoughts, intents and desires.
2. Words also convey the spiritual authority (the power of the author of the words) for the manifestation of that will.
“Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe… he shall have whatsoever he says.” Messiah Jesus.
Whosoever means just that, whosoever. That includes you and me! And whatsoever means just that too: anything and everything!! Both good and evil. Just and unjust.
The ‘god’ within is that powerful!!!
For the human heart operates by the power of faith/belief. Trust in plain language.
God made man a faith being, ‘after (His) likeness’. God believes absolutely in His words. So ought we to; in His words and in our words too.
To believe is to have integrity of will and words. To say what you mean and to mean what you say!
But man says what he does not mean and means what he does not say! We doubt our very words where it matters most; in the heart. And so, we do not and cannot move mountains because the ‘god’ within has been corrupted by sin/error. We have deceived our hearts into doubting, through lies.
In the grand scheme of things, meaning in life is a choice, and only one choice, really:
A Yes, or No, to Truth, the revealed will of God and the ultimate Meaning. For, God “desires Truth in the inward parts” Torah
And God will back up His Word, to reproduce after its kind, irrespective of who is saying it. This choice of Truth, in the heart, and the proclamation of Truth with the mouth, is the most potent spiritual weapon available to man.
To know and to believe – to choose – Truth in the heart, in all things and always, is to overcome all doubts and to have whatsoever we say! There is only one alternative; lies! And that comes from the opposer of Truth, satan, the de facto ‘god of this age’. He too, backs up every lie.
Alas, the prevalent reality is lies in the heart of man. That is the true nature of the fallen man, deceived vicariously through Adam’s great error. This is the core of spiritual intelligence: that man is evil in the heart. Evil, not good, is the default state of man. That is what it means to be human! But it is not the will of God for man.
“The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was (and is) great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was (and is) only evil continually.” Torah. So, knowledge of Truth, the will of God, is foremost.
God’s revealed will for man, from the beginning of time and space, is the blessing. The word blessing is from the Greek root word, eulogia, which means to say or to do good things to or about a person or thing. As it is written in the Torah:
“And God blessed them, saying… “
The Blessing remains the will of God for all mankind, for God and His Word do not change. They ‘abide forever’. The next step is to say what we know and believe/choose.
King David, again by the Spirit, revealed to us this spiritual principle: that faith and the spoken word go hand in glove. We believe and we speak, according to what we believe; what we choose!
“I have believed, therefore have I spoken.” Finally, we act on what we believe.
Faith is reflected in our actions. To believe is to act according to what we believe. If we believe Truth, goodness to one and all in the will of God, then must we act with goodwill to one and all!
For, “as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” Gospel. Thereafter, we wait patiently for the manifestation.
Faith demands patience. For, faith works with hope, the expectation of a definite outcome. And that’s as far as we can go. Patience kicks in thereafter to ‘have its perfect work’, according to the Gospel.
“For, if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Gospel
These four steps are the very core of spiritual intelligence.
1. Know the will of God: Truth.
2. Talk the known will of God: Truth.
3. Do the will of God: Love in Truth.
4. Then wait for manifest Truth: shalom shalom.
Everything has its time and season!
The human spirit, like the earth, brings forth of itself; in due season. The outcome is not something we do or can do.
For, ‘the earth brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.’
Law: “To him who believes, all things are possible.”
Spiritual intelligence is putting our trust in God’s unfailing ways. We must have the God-kind of faith. God trusts His Word absolutely. Do you trust in His Word, and yours too?
Belief in the head, mental assent, does not release the inherent power in words. It is a necessary first step, for you cannot believe in/ choose what you do not know.
But only the human heart can incubate and multiply whatever word seed is sown in it. The human heart, like natural soil, will not change the nature of the seed. It will only reproduce what is sown into it!!
Integrity is paramount therefore. To believe fully is to accept God’s word, the ‘incorruptible seed (spora or parentage in Greek), as Truth and to choose to align your will with it.
You say only what you believe; or want to believe.
The more we say what we believe or choose to believe (our hope), the more faith is developed in the heart, until mature faith breaks forth and births the physical manifestation; in due time.
To believe for a particular outcome but ‘say it as it is’, will not birth faith nor manifest what we desire. That would be ‘deceiving the heart’, according to the Gospel.
For instance, if you are sick and you desire healing, you should talk healing and not sickness. You must learn to say what you want to become. Keep the end state in view, always.
Like God, you call “forth the things that be not as though they are.”
Faith in God is simply taking Him at His word. It is a state of rest, in full assurance that due process, unseen spiritual forces, will bring about the desired outcome in due time. It is the same, or should be, with faith in your words.
The farmer knows this truth, so he patiently but confidently waits for the harvest, being fully persuaded that:
“He who began the good work (God who faithfully set up the system), will bring it to completion.”
Creation will yield to a person, any person, whatsoever she/he desires and commits to in the heart, good or evil; but in the due season. (Remember this truth for the 30-day Challenge.)
The problem of course, is that we want everything with little or no effort, especially in this age of fast food and wanting everything ‘now’!
Every achievement requires effort and time. It starts with a desire and it is consolidated by a decision to follow through, to attain the desire. To decide is to commit the power of the will to the task; to take responsibility and to stick with it. It’s called grit.
To believe in the head alone is not sufficient. That only opens a door of possibility. You must ‘talk the talk’ and then ‘walk the walk’, through that door, unto manifestation. No wavering.
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Gospel
These are the necessary steps we must take to achieve our goals in life; big or small. They are God’s sure faith process. His ‘way of Truth’.
This process we must cultivate in all the 7 Streams of life. The end result itself is outside of our ken. That comes from ‘above’. But it is as certain as night and day. So, understanding these principles may be helpful, but not necessary.
‘For so is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how.” Jesus Messiah
In summary, spiritual intelligence is to understand that we all operate within a universal context of Meaning: Truth; the will of God and His ways.
It is within this larger context that you find your own meaning, in this evil, fallen world under the ‘god of this age’, satan. You bring meaning – Truth – to the different ‘chance’ and ‘time’ that life brings your way.
